Salvatore Capoferri played his 150th game last weekend against the Grand River Gargoyles, and the veteran admits it’s been a “great ride” getting there.

Moving to Canada back in 2007, Capoferri is curently in his 11th AFL Ontario season. Now in the twilight of his career, he looks back fondly on what he’s achieved at the Toronto Eagles.

“I probably haven’t reflected on (the milestone) too much yet, but it’s probably something I didn’t think I’d get when I came to the Toronto Eagles.” Capoferri told eaglesafc.ca.

“When I first arrived, I was in the same situation as many Austalians who head over, your travelling and there’s an opportunity to play a bit of footy.”

“Most only come for a few years then continue on their travels, where as in my case, I’ve stayed… and over that time, well.. the club has been like a second family to me.”

In his time at the Eagles, Capoferri has had many roles at club and league level and now joins a special club at the Toronto Eagles with only a select few reaching the 150 game milestone.

“150 games is a special achievement and probably once I’m done, I’ll be able to reflect and be pretty proud of what I’ve achieved here at the Eagles.”
