LAST SEASON

2009 proved to be a successful year for the Toronto Eagles Australian Football Club. After a successful regular season finishing 12-2, the Eagles won through to play the Etobicoke Kangaroos in the Grand Final. Having lost to them twice throughout the season, Grand Final day was quite the reverse.

The Eagles went into the game at full strength, with an Australian contingent that was experienced and classy, and Canadians that had proved to be the best in the country over many seasons. The Eagles dominated all over the field and won 12.13.85 to 3.10.28. Club stalwart Aaron Falcioni had become a 1st year Premiership Coach, a great achievement for someone who has put so much into football in Canada.

Another great highlight for 2009 was first year OAFL player Ajit Alistair winning the OAFL Best & Fairest. AJ as he is known moved from Queensland, Australia and has become an integral part of the Eagles line up.

The other big news for 2009 was the retirement of OAFL legend and multiple Best & fairest winner Troy Marsh. Marshy has returned to Perth in Western Australia for work and we hope to see him back in the Eagles Nest in a couple of years time. We would like to thank Troy for his outstanding service to the Toronto Eagles and his courage and determination is second to none. Hopefully the Eagles of 2010 will use that as inspiration for more success.

2010 SEASON

The Toronto Eagles come into the 2010 season with only a few changes to their roster. Some new faces will be joining the club for this season including some experienced Australians, returning Canadians and some new recruits. The Eagles will be continuing with the same on field structure as last year and will be building to continue with their standard of excellence.

2010 will see some changes and a club determined to make changes in developing its budget to ensure sustainable growth and success. The Toronto Eagles have retained current sponsor, The Badger & Firkin. The Eagles have also acquired new sponsor, the Steam Whistle Brewery as the official beer of the club.

Promoting junior development will also be on the clubs agenda in order to build a future U/18 team.

The club is also embarking on building a relationship with Quebec Saints for Division 2 in season 2010. This will hopefully be a mutually beneficial  relationship that also provides for the development of the game.

Expect great things from the Toronto Eagles Australian Football Club this season. The Eagles will be hungry and determined to get back to back premierships.
