After a successful 2009 and a long off season, the Toronto Eagles Australian Football Club have started the footy season by taking out the 2010 OAFL Pre-Season tournament.

“It was a pretty good hit out for the club” commentated club president Salvatore Capoferri. ” We as a club are well aware that its just a pre-season tournament but this was a positive step for the club, especially for the newer guys.”

With 9 of the 10 OAFL clubs in attendance, the Toronto Eagles were able to secure the pre-season cup after accumulating the highest percentage.

Most importantly for the Eagles was the ability to blood a lot of their newer Canadian rookies, who have been working hard in the pre-season. Coach Aaron Falcioni was pleased with their efforts “The newer guys went out and had a pretty good crack which was all i could ask of them” he stated.

New Australian talent were also given a suitable run and the club was very please in the way they were able to slip into the team. “It was great to get out there with the team and play some footy again” comment new Australian recruit Tim Scholtes “I’m looking forward to the upcoming season with this great club.”

The Toronto Eagles will now prepare for round one next weekend, were they will face the Etobicoke Kangaroos in the rematch of the 2009 grand final.
