As the curtain falls on the year, it’s impossible not to reflect with pride on everything we’ve accomplished as a club. While we didn’t achieve our ultimate goal, 2024 has been a year of growth, success, and community, and there’s so much to celebrate.
This year has been nothing short of transformative for the Toronto Eagles Australian Football Club, filled with memorable moments on and off the field. From thrilling victories to the growth of our community, we’ve seen the strength of our club shine through.
With new faces joining the team, remarkable individual achievements, and a sense of unity that continues to define who we are, 2024 has set a strong foundation for an exciting future. Let’s take a moment to celebrate the successes, thank those who made it possible, and look ahead to what’s shaping up to be an even bigger year in 2025.
New Recruits Strengthening Our Squad
This year, we were lucky to have some incredible new talent join our ranks. Our new recruits didn’t just bring energy and excitement to the club—they showed real growth as the season progressed. Week by week, they adapted to the team’s style of play, stepped up to challenges, and made significant contributions both on and off the field. Watching their confidence grow and their skills develop has been one of the most rewarding aspects of the year.
By the end of the season, these players had established themselves as key members of the team, and their hard work promises even greater things to come. A special shoutout also goes to the former Central Blues players who made the move to our club. Their experience and dedication have been a huge boost, blending seamlessly into the team and lifting the level of competition across the board.
The energy and passion all our new players brought to the field have been inspiring, and it’s clear they’ve set us up for a bright future. Together with our seasoned players, this group has built a dynamic, competitive group that’s ready to keep climbing in 2025.
On-Field Success and Recognition
We’ve had some unforgettable moments on the field this season, with hard-fought wins showcasing the team’s determination and skill. Leading the way once again was Kevin Minaker, who added a 4th Troy Marsh Best and Fairest Award to his impressive resume. To top it off, Kevin was recognized across the entire league, taking home the 2024 Canadian Best and Fairest Award—a true testament to his consistency and talent.
Our success was further highlighted by the selection of Minaker, Jay Himat (VC), Jarrod Watson, Sean Fahey, and Bradley Harding to the All-Ontario team. In addition, Aaron Falcioni was honored with a coaching role, being named an assistant coach for the team. These achievements show just how much talent and leadership the Eagles bring to the league.
The Awards Gala remains the premiere event of the season, a night where the club comes together to celebrate the achievements of our players and community. This year’s Gala was no exception, highlighted by the induction of six new Hall of Fame members and the recognition of the incredible efforts that make our club what it is.
A Stronger Community Off the Field
Off the field, our Eagles community has continued to thrive. Events like Family Day and our post-game socials brought everyone together, strengthening the bonds that make this club so special. Whether it’s players, volunteers, coaches, or supporters, everyone contributes to what makes the Toronto Eagles more than just a footy team—it’s a family.
